Fonab Castle Hotel

Fabulous Christmas break. From start to finish it was PERFECT. Breakfast & Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic. Staff were superb & very attentive. Great Walks around the loch & into Pitlochry also. Highly recommend a castle room for authentic castle style. Can't wait to go back

Our stay at Fonab Castle was an absolute highlight of our trip. We were fortunate to stay in the penthouse suite, which was stunning — spacious, luxurious, and with incredible views. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond. They were attentive, genuinely friendly, and even provided us with a ride into town, which was such a thoughtful touch. The spa experience was fabulous. We enjoyed relaxing massages, swam in the pool, and spent time in the hot tub — the perfect way to unwind. We also loved exploring the grounds, especially the hike along the river to the loch, which was both beautiful and so much fun. Throughout our stay, the staff made excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. Every interaction felt personal and warm, making us feel truly cared for. Fonab Castle combines luxury, comfort, and incredible hospitality. We can’t recommend it highly enough and would return in a heartbeat.

This is our second visit to Fonab Castle and it was exceptional as usual. The rooms were five star as expected with a nice selection of treats left out for the guests. We had dinner in the 1892 and the food was excellent. I would even say it was one of the best meals I've ever had. The concierge are exceptional especially an older guy from Kirkcaldy who can't do enough for you including chatting to guests at breakfast, he was the same the last time we stayed.

We had a great stay. Our view was amazing, our room was very spacious and comfortable, the amenities were fantastic (we loved the pool), the food was delicious, and the service was attentive and incredibly friendly. The location was also perfect as it was close to hiking and not far from downtown. Also conveniently located near the train.

Stayed in the most beautiful lodge overlooking the very picturesque Loch Faskally. Excellent food and superb service from all staff. Loved our stay.

Booking the pod for a winter afternoon might not be the best idea since it gets dark early and you lose the view. The food was good, though not excellent, and the service was decent. They really should warm up the pods before guests arrive, as they take a long time to heat up in winter. Overall, it was an okay experience, but it’s probably better to visit in the summer when the days are longer and the river view is beautiful.

We decided on Fonab as a base for a group of 9 guys to see the Highlands. Lory was apoointed by the Hotel pre-arrival to assist in the various requests I had as group leader. Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by Authur & Martin such lovely chaps clearly passionate about their position. Our dining experiences were delivered in what can only be decsribed as top shelf, Evi & Andrea were kind, relaxed and enjoyed delivering the highest levels of service, the chef and his team delivered supurb food from Tomahawk Steaks to Roast Duck to an amazing tasting menu on our last night. Breakfast was also amazing, nothing was too much trouble for the team, marosh, Andrea & Evi served up even the most demanding coffees and also looked after us in the bar. The Spa was a little tired however equally enjoyable. The rooms were clean, tidy and beds very comfortable, the Hotel is starting to consider some upgrades which are needed in some areas however they do not effect the overall comfort - service and overall experience. Would we re-visit Fonab Castle ? YES absolutely !! A very big thankyou to all at Fonab !!

As usual a very friendly reception at Fonab. Both restaurants have never failed to hit the mark in service and quality. We always enjoy the cocktails in the bar. However we have one little reoccurring annoyance, and that's the fact there is no nibbles available either crisps or nuts. Would love a dry roasted nut with my French Martini...
